Study Profile Textile & Fashion Design

Textiles and Fashion can be regarded as a visual language reflecting the spirit of time, coupled to materials, craft and tradition. During the four-year Bachelor Textile & Fashion program at the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague (KABK) you will be coached and encouraged to develop your personal opinion, style, and creative signature.

As a fashion designer, you will study sociology, anthropology, semiotics, psychology and visual culture. As a textile designer you will work with concepts such as material, shape, structure and environment, whether it involves decorating an interior, designing clothing, industry or product development, or your autonomous expression. We focus on innovative, accurate and relevant design.

Professional Perspective
The objective of the Bachelor Textile & Fashion is training students to become independent and professional designers. We guide their individual development process in a semi-professional context.

The focus of Fashion Design is on the necessary and specific skills of the craft, with an emphasis on artistic authenticity. Textile Design offers a very broad spectrum of professional opportunities, including autonomous designers, interior designers, industry or product development designers, or designers for fashion collections.
